1047

1998 Château Gruaud-Larose: An elegant, less-rustic wine than some earlier vintages. Aromas of plums and cassis supported by a medium-full bodied palate with ripe tannins and great balance.

1049

2002 Pavillon Rouge: Deep crimson colour; very fragrant & refreshing. Ripe flavours with soft tannins. Great purity; a star of the vintage.

1050

1999 Léoville Poyferré: Fine and fresh with enlivening acidity. Elegant  palate with typical St Julien tannic structure. Beautifully mature now.

1051

1999 Pichon Longueville: Dark crimson. Dense, sweet and rich with hints of tobacco. A slow developer but at ten years old, it is now ready to be enjoyed.

1053

1995 Grand Puy Lacoste: Classic Pauillac cigar box perfume & rich blackcurrant flavours from a top estate & successful vintage. Medium-full bodied yet subtle.

1065

2000 Suduiraut: Fat & flavousome with pineapple & candied fruit undertones. Not overtly botrytic; good acidity & length.

1066

1995 d’Yquem: Subtle nose of fruit tarts then honey & almond aromas. Persistent marmalade & gingerbread flavours enlivened by fresh acidity. Now starting to open up.

1068

1998 Vargellas: Classic Taylor’s style. Initially a reserved nose which opens to reveal layers of liquorice and plums. Fine fruit with very persistent flavours.

1069

1991 Dow: Rounded, attractive nose of cherry & raspberry lead to a rich, concentrated palate with good tannins and a long, luscious finish. A much under-rated vintage now nicely evolved.

1070

1977 Graham: A superlative, powerful, big-hearted Port with intense, complex fruit despite being into its 4th decade of life. Beautifully harmonious; one of the great 20th Century Ports.

1071

1963 Warre: The colour of this wine is golden red. On the nose, there are soft flowery aromas. On the palate, there is the typical Warre elegance. Very soft tannins are well integrated with the fruit. The many years of bottle ageing have softened this wine into perfect equilibrium.
